Welcome to devenv.tools. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the devenv.tools service ("Service"), operated by devenv.tools ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
devenv.tools provides secure tunnels that expose local development environments to the internet via custom domains. The Service allows developers to:
The Service includes a CLI, a web dashboard, and edge infrastructure that handles DNS, TLS certificates, and traffic routing.
To use the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address. Your account will not be fully activated until email verification is complete.
Each individual may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or avoid bans violates these Terms and may result in all associated accounts being terminated.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately at support@devenv.tools if you believe your account has been compromised.
You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating your account and to keep that information up to date.
The Service is designed for development and testing purposes. It is not a production hosting platform. Running production workloads through devenv.tools tunnels may result in account restrictions.
You agree not to use the Service for:
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and may issue warnings, temporarily suspend tunnels, or permanently terminate your account. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except where immediate action is necessary.
We offer a free tier that does not require payment information. Usage limits may change over time; we will provide notice before reducing free tier capabilities for existing users.
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually. All payments are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel.
We will provide at least 30 days' written notice (via email) before any price increase. The new price applies at the start of your next billing cycle.
If a payment fails, we will retry and notify you by email. You have a 7-day grace period to update your payment information before your account is downgraded to the free tier. Your data is preserved.
The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any specific uptime or offer a formal SLA.
We will provide reasonable advance notice (typically at least 24 hours) before scheduled maintenance that may cause service interruptions.
In the event of unplanned outages, we will work to restore the Service as quickly as possible and provide status updates. We are not liable for damages resulting from service unavailability.
Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. We collect only the data necessary to provide the Service, we do not sell your data, and you retain control over your personal information.
The devenv.tools Service — including its dashboard, APIs, documentation, and branding — is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service.
You retain full ownership of any code, data, and content that passes through the Service. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content and do not inspect or store your tunnel traffic except as necessary to provide routing and TLS termination.
Certain components (such as the CLI) may be released under open-source licenses governed by their respective license terms.
You may terminate your account at any time through the dashboard settings or by contacting support@devenv.tools. Upon termination, your tunnels shut down immediately and custom domain configurations are released.
We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where possible, we will provide advance notice and an opportunity to export your data.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT. IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANY FEES, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $50 USD.
We are not responsible for any data loss resulting from use of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.
When we make changes, we will:
Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the changes.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
