Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is the Use Limitations referenced in the Key Terms of our Terms of Service and is incorporated into the Cloud Service Agreement by reference. It applies in addition to, not instead of, the Restrictions on Customer in Section 2.1 of the Standard Terms.

1. Purpose

Port Zero's Cloud Service creates a public HTTPS endpoint for a service running on your own machine or network. As described in our Privacy Policy, we do not inspect or store the content of traffic flowing through your tunnels. That means you, not Port Zero, are solely responsible for what you expose and what passes through it. This policy exists to keep our shared edge network safe for every customer and to describe what happens when it isn't.

2. Network and Infrastructure Abuse

You may not use the Cloud Service to:

  • Scan, probe, or attack third-party systems you are not authorized to test
  • Launch or participate in a denial-of-service attack, or use a tunnel as a reflector or relay for one
  • Operate an open proxy, VPN-for-hire, or anonymization service for traffic unrelated to your own application
  • Host or relay command-and-control infrastructure for malware or botnets
  • Attempt credential stuffing, brute-force login attempts, or automated account takeover against any system
  • Circumvent network access controls, firewalls, or geographic restrictions on behalf of a third party
  • Interfere with or degrade the Cloud Service for other customers, including through excessive automated requests

3. Content Transmitted Through Tunnels

You may not use a tunnel to serve or transmit:

  • Phishing pages, malware, or exploit delivery infrastructure
  • Content that is illegal in the jurisdictions where you operate
  • Prohibited Data (as defined in the Standard Terms) or content subject to HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or similar regulatory regimes, unless you have independently confirmed you are authorized to transmit it and have implemented appropriate safeguards — Port Zero does not inspect tunnel content and cannot do this for you
  • Interfaces to High Risk Activity systems (as defined in the Standard Terms), such as medical-device, industrial-control, or life-safety systems

Because we do not inspect tunnel content, responsibility for what you expose rests entirely with you. This is reflected in the Customer Covered Claim definition in our Terms of Service, under which you indemnify Port Zero for third-party claims arising from traffic transmitted through your tunnels.

4. Fair Use of Shared Infrastructure

Free-tier and shared infrastructure is sized for development, testing, demos, and similar workloads. We may throttle, rate-limit, or suspend usage that is disproportionate to these purposes, including sustained high-volume traffic, cryptocurrency mining, or automated scraping unrelated to your application.

5. Reporting Abuse

If you believe a Port Zero tunnel is being used for phishing, malware, network attacks, or other abuse, or that content served through a tunnel infringes your intellectual property rights, contact support@portzero.net with the tunnel domain, the abusive behavior, and any supporting evidence (headers, logs, screenshots).

6. Enforcement

Violating this policy is a violation of the Agreement under Section 2.1 of the Standard Terms. Under Section 2.2, we may suspend or terminate access with or without prior notice when we reasonably believe a tunnel is being used for network abuse or to transmit content described in Sections 2 or 3 above, given the risk such use poses to third parties and to our shared infrastructure. We will attempt to notify you when practical, consistent with the Standard Terms.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as new abuse patterns emerge. Material changes will be announced consistent with how we announce changes to the Terms of Service.
