Welcome to devenv.tools. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the devenv.tools service ("Service"), operated by devenv.tools ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
devenv.tools provides secure tunnels that expose local development environments to the internet via custom domains. The Service allows developers to:
The Service includes a command-line interface (CLI), a web dashboard for managing tunnels and domains, and edge infrastructure that handles DNS, TLS certificates, and traffic routing.
To use the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address. We will send a verification code to that email address, and your account will not be fully activated until email verification is complete.
Each individual may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits, avoid bans, or for any other reason is a violation of these Terms and may result in all associated accounts being terminated.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials, including your login email and any API tokens generated through the Service. You must notify us immediately at support@devenv.tools if you believe your account has been compromised. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your account.
You agree to provide accurate and current information when creating your account and to keep that information up to date.
The Service is designed for development and testing purposes. It is not intended as a production hosting platform. Running production workloads through devenv.tools tunnels is not supported and may result in account restrictions.
You agree not to use the Service for any of the following:
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of these Terms. If we determine that a violation has occurred, we may take action including issuing warnings, temporarily suspending tunnels, or permanently terminating your account. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the Service or other users.
We offer a free tier of the Service that does not require payment information. The free tier is subject to usage limits that may change over time. We will provide notice before reducing the capabilities of the free tier for existing users.
Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select. All payments are processed through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
We may change the prices of paid plans at any time. If you are on an active paid plan, we will provide at least 30 days' written notice (via email) before any price increase takes effect. The new price will apply at the start of your next billing cycle after the notice period.
If a payment fails, we will retry the charge and notify you by email. You will have a 7-day grace period to update your payment information. If payment is not resolved within the grace period, your account will be downgraded to the free tier. You will not lose your data, but features exclusive to paid plans will become unavailable until payment is restored.
The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. While we strive to maintain high availability, we do not guarantee any specific uptime percentage or offer a formal Service Level Agreement (SLA). The nature of tunnel-based development tooling means that brief interruptions, while uncommon, can occur.
We will provide reasonable advance notice (typically at least 24 hours) before scheduled maintenance that may cause service interruptions. Maintenance notices will be posted on our status page and, for significant maintenance windows, communicated via email to active users.
In the event of unplanned outages, we will work to restore the Service as quickly as possible and provide status updates. We are not liable for any damages resulting from service unavailability.
Your privacy matters to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
In brief: we collect only the data necessary to provide and improve the Service, we do not sell your data, and you retain control over your personal information. Please review the Privacy Policy for full details.
The devenv.tools Service, including its web dashboard, edge infrastructure, APIs, documentation, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to sublicense, resell, or redistribute the Service.
You retain full ownership of any code, data, and content that passes through the Service via your tunnels. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. We do not inspect, store, or analyze the traffic flowing through your tunnels, except as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., TLS termination, routing) or to investigate suspected abuse.
Certain components of the Service, such as the CLI, may be released under open-source licenses. Those components are governed by their respective license terms, not by this section.
You may terminate your account at any time through the dashboard settings or by contacting us at support@devenv.tools. Upon termination, your tunnels will be shut down immediately and your custom domain configurations will be released.
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where possible, we will provide advance notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination takes effect.
Upon termination of your account, by either party:
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FEES YOU HAVE PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANY FEES, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $50 USD.
We are not responsible for any data loss that occurs as a result of using the Service. The Service is a development tool, and while we take reasonable precautions to protect your account data, we are not a backup or disaster recovery provider. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of any code or data that passes through your tunnels.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will:
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and close your account.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
